Burning smell coming from an outlet. A breaker that trips the second you reset it. Half your kitchen dark while the hallway light still works. None of that waits until Monday — and it shouldn't have to. ElectroMax Systems has a licensed 24-hour electrician on call across the Lower Mainland, day or night, weekends included. Call 604-754-1050 and we'll get someone to your door — most Surrey calls get a technician on-site within 45–60 minutes.

— When It Won't Wait

Our emergency
service covers.

Some electrical problems can wait for a scheduled appointment. Others can't — and if you're dealing with any of these right now, put the screwdriver down and call us instead of trying to fix it yourself.

01

Breaker Keeps Tripping

This usually means something on that circuit is drawing more power than it can handle, or the breaker itself is failing. Flipping it back on repeatedly can make things worse.

02

Burning Smell Near Electrics

That smell means heat is building up somewhere it shouldn't be. Wires and plastic components don't get hot on their own — this is worth checking immediately, not in the morning.

03

Sparking or Warm Outlets

A quick spark once in a while can be normal. Repeated sparking, a buzzing sound, or warmth on the cover plate usually points to a loose connection or damaged wiring behind the wall.

04

Partial Power Loss

If it's not a whole-house outage, the problem is local — a tripped breaker, a bad connection, or a failing circuit. It won't fix itself, and leaving it can strain the rest of the panel.

05

Flickering Lights

One bulb flickering is probably just the bulb. Multiple lights doing it at once, especially when an appliance kicks on, usually means a loose connection somewhere upstream that needs a proper look.

06

Storm Damage

Downed branches, a damaged mast, or exposed wiring after a storm isn't a wait-and-see situation. Stay away from it and call — this is one of the few things we treat as top priority every time.

— Step-by-Step Process

From first call
to your first charge.

Getting an EV charger installed at your home doesn’t have to be complicated. Here’s exactly what we do — from the moment you call us to the moment your charger is ready to use.

  1. 01Step

Cut power at the main breaker

Switching off the main breaker stops power to the whole panel, not just one circuit. Only do this if the panel isn't hot, smoking, or wet — otherwise, stay clear and let us handle it.

  2. 02Step

Stay away from water near any exposed wiring

Water and electricity don't mix, and a flooded outlet or a wet floor near sparking wires is one of the fastest ways to get seriously hurt. Keep your distance and keep everyone else back too.

  3. 03Step

Don't touch the panel or outlet

Touching a damaged panel or outlet to “check” it is how people get burned or shocked. Leave it alone completely and wait for someone trained to deal with it directly.

  4. 04Step

    Get everyone out

A burning smell means heat is building somewhere behind the wall or inside the panel. Clear the room first and figure out the source after — it's not worth the risk of waiting around.

  5. 05Step

    Unplug what you can

Unplugging nearby devices can reduce the load on a struggling circuit. But if the outlet or cord itself looks damaged or feels warm, leave it plugged in and step away instead.

  6. 06Step

    Call us right away

Electrical faults don't fix themselves overnight. Call 604-754-1050 as soon as something feels off — the sooner we're on-site, the sooner it's actually resolved instead of just quiet for now.

— Why It Matters

Age and growth,
on the same street.

A lot of what we see in Surrey comes down to age and growth happening at the same time. Older pockets of Whalley and Guildford still run on 60-amp or early 100-amp panels that were never built for the number of devices, EV chargers, and appliances a modern household runs — that's a common source of the “breaker won't reset” call.

On the other end, fast-growing areas like Clayton Heights and South Surrey are full of newer homes where a tripped breaker is more often a faulty fixture or a wiring fault from construction than a capacity issue.

We've run enough emergency calls across the Lower Mainland to know that no two homes fail the same way. Older neighbourhoods often still have knob-and-tube remnants or panels that were never built for modern loads, while newer subdivisions tend to share the same builder-grade parts that fail the same way, street after street.

As one of our senior technicians put it: “Half the emergency calls we get aren't really about the outlet that's sparking — it's an old panel that's been overloaded for years and finally showing it. We fix what's in front of us, but we'll always tell you if there's a bigger issue behind it.” That's the difference between a patch job and an actual fix.

— Why ElectroMax Systems

Six reasons customers
call us first.

BC Licensed

Every emergency call is handled by a licensed electrician, not an apprentice sent out on their own. You get someone qualified from the moment they walk in.

Fully Insured

You and your home are covered on every job we do, no matter what time of night we're there.

WorkSafeBC Covered

We follow proper safety standards on every call, even the rushed ones. That protects your home and our technicians both.

Local Teams, Fast Response

We run crews across the Lower Mainland every day, not just one city. That means someone's actually close by when you call, not driving in from across town.

No Subcontractors

Whoever shows up at your door works for us. Your emergency isn't handed off to some other company we've never met.

Permits Handled

If the fix needs a permit — a panel upgrade, for instance — we file it and manage the inspection ourselves. You don't chase paperwork after the fact.

— Frequently Asked

Emergency electrician
questions.

How fast can you get to Surrey?

Most Surrey calls get a technician on-site within 45–60 minutes of dispatch, depending on your location and current call volume. Areas like Guildford, Fleetwood, and Newton are typically fastest since we run technicians based centrally. Call 604-754-1050 and dispatch will give you a real-time estimate before you hang up.

What counts as an electrical emergency?

A breaker that won't reset, any burning or melting smell near outlets or panels, sparking switches, partial power loss in the home, and unexplained flickering lights all count. If you smell smoke or see visible damage, shut off power at the main breaker if it's safe to reach and call immediately.

Is a licensed electrician actually available right now?

Yes — ElectroMax Systems has 24-hour dispatch across the Lower Mainland with licensed electricians on call every night, including weekends and holidays. You'll speak with dispatch directly, not an answering service, and get a real arrival window on the first call.

How much does an emergency electrician call-out cost?

Call-out pricing depends on the time of day and the issue, and we'll quote it before any work starts — no surprise invoices. Diagnosis is included in the visit, and we give a free estimate for any repair work beyond the initial fix.

Should I turn off my main breaker before you arrive?

If you smell burning, see sparks, or notice visible damage, shut off the main breaker if you can reach it safely — don't touch the panel itself if it's hot, smoking, or wet. If you're unsure, stay clear and call us; we'll walk you through it over the phone.

Do you charge extra for nighttime or weekend emergency calls?

Emergency call-outs outside standard business hours carry a callout rate, which we quote upfront when you call — there's no hidden after-hours markup added once we're on-site. You'll know the number before we leave for your address.

Is ElectroMax Systems licensed and insured?

Yes — ElectroMax Systems is BC licensed, fully insured, and registered with WorkSafeBC, and every technician working across the Lower Mainland carries current certification. That covers both the work itself and the safety of anyone on the property while we're there.
